R/C SwitchR/C Switch

R/C Gadgets :: R/C Switch

Introduction

The R/C Switch converts standard R/C servo pulses into an On/Off signal. Because the output switch has high current load capability (5Amps) this switch can control lights, small auxilary motors, solenoids, etc.

The hardware is very simple there is no microcontroller or other programmable device. Only a standard CMOS monostabile multivibrator and some additional RC elements for timing and signal filtering. No adjustment or setup is required.

The output switch is a FET with 5A maximum load current capability.

Features:

  • Compatible with standar servo pulses (1ms...2ms)
  • Maximum load current: 5A
  • Maximum switch voltage: 24V
  • Fail safe funcion, without servo pulse the switch goes to 'Off 'state
  • Small size: 40mm x 15mm x 6mm (approx.)

Application

Several type of loads can be connected to the R/C Switch. The black cable must be conected to the negative pole of battery. The red cable must be connected to the negative pole of load (if it polarized) and the positive pole of load must be connected to the positive pole of battery. Always check connection before turning on the circuit. Reverse polarity might damage the circuit. Never connect the output to directly to the battery. It will damage the circuit and may cause fire.

For inductive loads (relay, solenoid, motor) a diode must be installed. Check the diode polarity before powering the circuit. The reverse diode polarity might damage the circuit, diode and load.
